For many years, New Desire Christian Ministries has been involved in mission work all over the world in places like Kenya, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, the Bahamas and more. The ministry has always placed great emphasis on God’s command in Mark 16:15 to, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

In 2015, New Desire expanded their borders and established a full-time presence in the Central American country of Honduras. The ministry headquarters is located an hour and a half north of the capitol city of Tegucigalpa in the rural town of La Ermita. An unfinished house was purchased on a small piece of property in the heart of the community with a vision that it would become a home for our mission work in the area. In 2015, New Desire welcomed Kim Pate, formerly of Boaz, AL, to our staff as Director of Foreign Missions and missionary to Honduras. Kim has 13 years of experience in international missions, and as of June 2015, she is residing in the mission house full-time. In just our few short years in Honduras, we have witnessed many coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! We want you to be a part of this work!

In the town of La Ermita there is an abundant amount of ministry opportunities. Our staff is able to accommodate each group according to their specific talents or gifts. Opportunities include evangelism, food distribution, crusades, VBS, construction, recreational (sports) activities, Bible studies, prayer services and much more! There is something for everyone in the work of the Lord!

If you or your group would like to book a trip to Honduras, please contact us at our home office at 770-684-8987. The all-inclusive price per person (flight, meals, lodging, vehicle maintainence and fuel, drivers, translators, rice & beans for distribution, etc.) is $2000.00 based on a 5-7 day trip. If you would like more information or have any questions, please contact us.

We ask that you continue to pray for God to provide the needs for this ministry. Keep in mind that New Desire is a 501(c)3 organization; therefore, any donation that you make to the ministry is tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt at the end of the fiscal year. At this time, we are looking to build a building that will serve as a Sunday School space. We pray that you will consider helping us reach this goal.

We are also in prayer that God will send a pastor to lead our church. We are earnestly praying that God will send the man He has chosen to shepherd this flock. Additionally, we have a continuous need for funds to continue the weekly feeding kitchen, meet medical needs, school supplies, baby care items, and any other needs that may arise.

If you are unable to make a trip to Honduras, but you would still like to be a part of the work that is going on there, we have opportunities for you as well! You can become a monthly supporter of New Desire Missions to help us feed families in the community by contacting our office. We also pray that you or your church would consider donating to meet one or more of the needs mentioned above.

Thank you for your interest in our work in Honduras. We pray that you will consider joining us in this effort to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who don’t know Him. We know that not everyone is able to go, but we are all called to give, send, and pray. As Jesus said to His disciples in Matthew 9:37, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” We look forward to serving with you on the mission field!

October Update

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”(2 Timothy 2:15).

As I have spent the last 4 months here, I have come to find out that there are many different beliefs here that aren’t Biblically correct. So many people have allowed the opinions of man to overcome what the Bible says to be truth. For example, after I had just finished teaching on eternal security and that eternal means forever, I had someone come up to me and tell me they understand what I was teaching, but they believe you can do certain things that will cause you to lose your salvation. It’s hard for them to grasp the idea that you can’t do enough good or bad to save yourself. This is just one of many examples that I could give you. Truthfully, there isn’t much difference here than what we see and hear in the States. Zac has been preaching out of the book of Ephesians on Sunday mornings. I am continuing to teach from Dr. Robinson’s book, “It Is Finished” on Tuesday afternoons. It has amazed me that what Zac is preaching and what I am teaching strengthens each other.

Zac Gardner will be here until November 9th. During his three months here he has poured God’s word into Tony to help him get a better understanding of how to study the Word and then how to teach others. They spend many hours a week together studying. On Sunday nights they are holding a men’s Bible study. The majority of the guys that come don’t attend regular church services. It is our prayer that this will be just the beginning and that soon they will have a desire to come to our church services. It is difficult to get men involved in the church. We are thankful for the three faithful men that are not only a part of the men’s Bible study, but also faithful to attend the church services. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to reach out to the men in our community.

On October 20th, we participated in our very first baby dedication service. Genesis Sofia was born to her teenage mom, Julia, just less than a month ago. We were honored to take part in this special occasion. Zac shared scripture from Psalm 127:3-5a. Zac spoke directly with Julia encouraging her to bring Genesis up in church where she can learn more about Jesus and one day when she reaches the age of accountability she will receive Christ as her personal Savior. Please keep this mother and her two children in your prayers.

We were invited to visit the local water system. It was to our surprise that it consists of only two rivers where they have built two dams to contain the water (and no there is no water filtration system). The water the community gets is straight from the river. One of those dams fell and at this point they have no way to store up that water in order to get it to the communities. They have asked us to help them raise money so they can build back this dam. Before the rainy season started, the community that I live in went a total of 14 days without water. The source dried up twice as quick because they had no way to contain the water. They need a total of $11,000.00 to complete this task. Many of the materials have already been donated. They need help with paying 10 laborers and buying many loads of sand. We are thankful for those that have already donated towards this project. I will personally be administering all money that is donated through this ministry. We have been able to help 2 more families connect water to their houses. They no longer have to carry water on their heads for miles just to take a bath or wash clothes. They had to dig the length of 3 football fields just to be able to connect to the main water source. It is so exciting to be able to help people get water and make their life just a little bit easier. I don’t know about you, but I know I have taken so much for granted.

I absolutely love my house. I personally want to thank Bro. Dan Robinson for the countless hours he has worked to ensure that I have a nice, safe place to live. Dan, Zac, Tony and Nahum recently put in drop ceilings. That has made a huge difference in the temperature in the house. It also has helped keep little critters out of the house. Much of the house is finished, but we still have a lot of work to do to get the team rooms finished. The team rooms will be used especially for those groups that want to come down from the States. Dan, Brenda, and others will be coming down in December to help us get those rooms finished. We are currently raising money to help us complete these rooms and to furnish them with all the necessities. We desperately need at least $10,000.00 to be able to get everything we need. Each room will have its own bathroom. We will put at least 2 sets of bunk beds in each room too.

As I mentioned, we are preparing the house for missions groups that will be coming down starting next year. If you or your church is interested in obeying the Great Commission and would like to come down, please contact me at [email protected] or New Desire Christian Ministries at (770) 684-8987. We will be more than happy to talk with you and help you in any way possible. New Desire will book your flights for you and take care of all the details. Due to the expenses of having a group we will be charging $2,000.00 per person. This will include flight, meals, lodging, vehicle rental and fuel, translators, rice & beans for distribution and any other expenses you may incur while here. We look forward to hearing from you.

If God has spoken to you about helping me in this ministry please send all donations to the following address:

New Desire Christian Ministries
231 Gordon Road
Cedartown, GA  30125

Please make note if you are donating to a specific cause. Ex. Kim’s Monthly support, House, Water Project, etc. All donations are tax deductible. Also, please note that I receive 100% of the money that is sent to me. New Desire does not hold back any money for their cost or expenses. They have been very supportive in making sure that I am taken care of.

There are not enough words to express how thankful I am for each one of you. This ministry has exploded over the last 4 months. God has opened up so many doors of opportunity for us to minister and share the Gospel of Christ. So many of you have helped financially, and I thank you for that. I say this all the time but it is so true, I could not do what I am doing here if it wasn’t for people like you being willing to give and support foreign missions. Please keep it up, and more importantly, please keep us in your prayers.

Until the Last One Hears,

Kim Pate

September Update

“…And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:47). We are rejoicing that 7 more souls have been saved since our last report. Jessica and I had the opportunity to lead one lady to the Lord even though Satan was fighting it in every way. We had so many distractions that day that it wasn’t even funny. It ranged from the noise of a marching band to a tractor passing by twice, 2 motor taxis, and a herd of cattle. Each time those things passed by I had to jump up and go move my truck to allow them to get by since we were one a one lane dirt road. The greatest part was that this lady was so ready to ask Jesus in her heart that none of those things swayed her from hearing the Gospel.

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). We are currently having services on Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoon. We average around 50 each service. Zac Gardner, from my home church Bethlehem Baptist, is here for three months so he is preaching for us each Sunday morning. He has started a series of sermons in Ephesians. On Tuesday nights I am teaching Dr. Brenda Robinson´s book “It is Finished.” It is of the utmost importance that we lay down a firm foundation, and we believe that through the preaching and teaching of the God’s Word we can do that. Zac has also started a Wednesday night Men’s Bible Study. The first night he had 10 guys in attendance. I have been completely in awe of how God continues to bless this ministry.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). We had a 3 night revival during the first weekend in September. We are still rejoicing over the 4 souls saved during that time. My Pastor friend, Bro. Stuart from Nicaragua, came to preach for us. Each night God gave him a powerful message for the lost and a wakeup call to all Christians. It was a heart wrenching moment when I realized over half of the people attending had never received Christ as their personal Savior. Needless to say, we have much work to do to get the Gospel out to our neighbors. The revival not only served as a tool in bringing souls to Christ, but also to bringing more people to our church services. The next regular service we had 81 people there. Pray for us as we continue telling others about Christ and teaching them God’s Word.

“But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:17-18). During our weekly visitation, we have come across many urgent needs and thankfully God has always provided for us to be able to take care of those needs. We have run across many sick people that didn’t have the money to go see the doctor or even buy their medicine. One day we found a 5 year old boy that had been running an extremely high fever for 3 days but his mom didn’t have the means to take him to a doctor. Of course, we immediately took him to the doctor and got him a shot. The mom said she knew God sent us because she had been praying for Him to help her son. Another time we visited a mom that had 5 kids and her husband had left her. She had small children and wasn’t able to work at the time. We found out she didn’t have food in her house and had no idea how she was going to feed her family that day. So we did what any Christian would do, and we went and bought them enough food for several weeks.

“If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water” (John 7:37-38). God has opened up opportunities for us to help some of the local people connect to the main water source. I couldn’t believe the amount of people we have talked to that don’t have access to water. We found out it cost them $40 just to connect not counting the pipe they would need. When you average $1.50 a day, I quickly realized why they couldn’t ever connect because that would take more than a month’s salary just to pay for the hook up fee. That would mean doing without food for a month. I am thankful for those that have so graciously told me they would like to partner with us so we could reach out and help more people.

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3). Many of you have been so faithful to help me and this ministry. There aren’t enough words to express to you how grateful I am for your love and support. I realize I couldn’t be doing this full time if it weren’t for each of you. Please know you are always in our prayers.

Until The Last One Hears,
Kim Pate

Honduras Updates

A month has passed and I stand in awe of how God has already moved in the hearts of so many people. The greatest move has been in the hearts of five precious souls that received Christ as their personal Savior. There is nothing more exciting than watching someone’s face when they finally realize that their sins have been forgiven and that they no longer have to worry about where they will spend eternity. Jesus says in John 12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” The only thing we know to do is to lift up the name of Jesus and He promises that He will then draw all men unto him. Pray for us as we lift up the name of Jesus that more souls will come to know Him before it is everlasting too late.
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…” Psalms 127:1a Even before the construction started on our mission house, we prayed for God to build this house in a way that would be pleasing unto Him. We want this community to know that God always supplies for His children. Our desire was to be in this house as quickly as possible so that we could start the work that the Lord has called us to do.  We are currently using the mission house for our Sunday morning service and our Tuesday night prayer time. We still have a lot of work to do on the house in order to get it ready for mission teams to come in and work with us. Once the house is completed we will be able to accommodate teams with at least 18 members comfortably. We are excited and can’t wait for you to see firsthand how God is blessing this ministry!
Other than having a safe house to live in and minister out of, the purchase of a truck was a major accomplishment for New Desire Honduras. Having spent several days without transportation, you can only imagine the joy I felt the day we were able to go and purchase a truck. Living in a third world country and realizing you are at the mercy of everyone else really brings things into perspective. I guess it wasn’t until the day we were in Tegucigalpa (the capital city) waiting on our taxi driver to pick us up that I realized just how much I missed having a truck. We waited over two hours and he never showed up. We finally ended up renting a vehicle at the airport just so we could go home that day. I am thankful for each person who gave towards the purchase of our truck. I am also thankful for that person that gave us an interest free loan for the remaining amount so that we could go ahead and purchase the truck. I know my God will supply us with the rest of that money to pay off the truck very soon.
I am very blessed to be working with New Desire. Their love for the Lord and their concern for others is evident in their daily walk. Dan and Brenda have worked countless hours to make sure that we are safe and that our needs are met. To be serving our Lord with these two is like a dream come true. As a mission team, our heart’s desire is to win souls to Christ and then to disciple them that they may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please keep us all in your prayers. We have a great task before us but we believe what Philippians 1:6 says: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Until the Last One Hears,
Kim Pate
