“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”(2 Timothy 2:15).
As I have spent the last 4 months here, I have come to find out that there are many different beliefs here that aren’t Biblically correct. So many people have allowed the opinions of man to overcome what the Bible says to be truth. For example, after I had just finished teaching on eternal security and that eternal means forever, I had someone come up to me and tell me they understand what I was teaching, but they believe you can do certain things that will cause you to lose your salvation. It’s hard for them to grasp the idea that you can’t do enough good or bad to save yourself. This is just one of many examples that I could give you. Truthfully, there isn’t much difference here than what we see and hear in the States. Zac has been preaching out of the book of Ephesians on Sunday mornings. I am continuing to teach from Dr. Robinson’s book, “It Is Finished” on Tuesday afternoons. It has amazed me that what Zac is preaching and what I am teaching strengthens each other.
Zac Gardner will be here until November 9th. During his three months here he has poured God’s word into Tony to help him get a better understanding of how to study the Word and then how to teach others. They spend many hours a week together studying. On Sunday nights they are holding a men’s Bible study. The majority of the guys that come don’t attend regular church services. It is our prayer that this will be just the beginning and that soon they will have a desire to come to our church services. It is difficult to get men involved in the church. We are thankful for the three faithful men that are not only a part of the men’s Bible study, but also faithful to attend the church services. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to reach out to the men in our community.
On October 20th, we participated in our very first baby dedication service. Genesis Sofia was born to her teenage mom, Julia, just less than a month ago. We were honored to take part in this special occasion. Zac shared scripture from Psalm 127:3-5a. Zac spoke directly with Julia encouraging her to bring Genesis up in church where she can learn more about Jesus and one day when she reaches the age of accountability she will receive Christ as her personal Savior. Please keep this mother and her two children in your prayers.
We were invited to visit the local water system. It was to our surprise that it consists of only two rivers where they have built two dams to contain the water (and no there is no water filtration system). The water the community gets is straight from the river. One of those dams fell and at this point they have no way to store up that water in order to get it to the communities. They have asked us to help them raise money so they can build back this dam. Before the rainy season started, the community that I live in went a total of 14 days without water. The source dried up twice as quick because they had no way to contain the water. They need a total of $11,000.00 to complete this task. Many of the materials have already been donated. They need help with paying 10 laborers and buying many loads of sand. We are thankful for those that have already donated towards this project. I will personally be administering all money that is donated through this ministry. We have been able to help 2 more families connect water to their houses. They no longer have to carry water on their heads for miles just to take a bath or wash clothes. They had to dig the length of 3 football fields just to be able to connect to the main water source. It is so exciting to be able to help people get water and make their life just a little bit easier. I don’t know about you, but I know I have taken so much for granted.
I absolutely love my house. I personally want to thank Bro. Dan Robinson for the countless hours he has worked to ensure that I have a nice, safe place to live. Dan, Zac, Tony and Nahum recently put in drop ceilings. That has made a huge difference in the temperature in the house. It also has helped keep little critters out of the house. Much of the house is finished, but we still have a lot of work to do to get the team rooms finished. The team rooms will be used especially for those groups that want to come down from the States. Dan, Brenda, and others will be coming down in December to help us get those rooms finished. We are currently raising money to help us complete these rooms and to furnish them with all the necessities. We desperately need at least $10,000.00 to be able to get everything we need. Each room will have its own bathroom. We will put at least 2 sets of bunk beds in each room too.
As I mentioned, we are preparing the house for missions groups that will be coming down starting next year. If you or your church is interested in obeying the Great Commission and would like to come down, please contact me at [email protected] or New Desire Christian Ministries at (770) 684-8987. We will be more than happy to talk with you and help you in any way possible. New Desire will book your flights for you and take care of all the details. Due to the expenses of having a group we will be charging $2,000.00 per person. This will include flight, meals, lodging, vehicle rental and fuel, translators, rice & beans for distribution and any other expenses you may incur while here. We look forward to hearing from you.
If God has spoken to you about helping me in this ministry please send all donations to the following address:

Please make note if you are donating to a specific cause. Ex. Kim’s Monthly support, House, Water Project, etc. All donations are tax deductible. Also, please note that I receive 100% of the money that is sent to me. New Desire does not hold back any money for their cost or expenses. They have been very supportive in making sure that I am taken care of.
There are not enough words to express how thankful I am for each one of you. This ministry has exploded over the last 4 months. God has opened up so many doors of opportunity for us to minister and share the Gospel of Christ. So many of you have helped financially, and I thank you for that. I say this all the time but it is so true, I could not do what I am doing here if it wasn’t for people like you being willing to give and support foreign missions. Please keep it up, and more importantly, please keep us in your prayers.
Until the Last One Hears,
Kim Pate
