A month has passed and I stand in awe of how God has already moved in the hearts of so many people. The greatest move has been in the hearts of five precious souls that received Christ as their personal Savior. There is nothing more exciting than watching someone’s face when they finally realize that their sins have been forgiven and that they no longer have to worry about where they will spend eternity. Jesus says in John 12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” The only thing we know to do is to lift up the name of Jesus and He promises that He will then draw all men unto him. Pray for us as we lift up the name of Jesus that more souls will come to know Him before it is everlasting too late.
“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it…” Psalms 127:1a Even before the construction started on our mission house, we prayed for God to build this house in a way that would be pleasing unto Him. We want this community to know that God always supplies for His children. Our desire was to be in this house as quickly as possible so that we could start the work that the Lord has called us to do. We are currently using the mission house for our Sunday morning service and our Tuesday night prayer time. We still have a lot of work to do on the house in order to get it ready for mission teams to come in and work with us. Once the house is completed we will be able to accommodate teams with at least 18 members comfortably. We are excited and can’t wait for you to see firsthand how God is blessing this ministry!
Other than having a safe house to live in and minister out of, the purchase of a truck was a major accomplishment for New Desire Honduras. Having spent several days without transportation, you can only imagine the joy I felt the day we were able to go and purchase a truck. Living in a third world country and realizing you are at the mercy of everyone else really brings things into perspective. I guess it wasn’t until the day we were in Tegucigalpa (the capital city) waiting on our taxi driver to pick us up that I realized just how much I missed having a truck. We waited over two hours and he never showed up. We finally ended up renting a vehicle at the airport just so we could go home that day. I am thankful for each person who gave towards the purchase of our truck. I am also thankful for that person that gave us an interest free loan for the remaining amount so that we could go ahead and purchase the truck. I know my God will supply us with the rest of that money to pay off the truck very soon.
I am very blessed to be working with New Desire. Their love for the Lord and their concern for others is evident in their daily walk. Dan and Brenda have worked countless hours to make sure that we are safe and that our needs are met. To be serving our Lord with these two is like a dream come true. As a mission team, our heart’s desire is to win souls to Christ and then to disciple them that they may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please keep us all in your prayers. We have a great task before us but we believe what Philippians 1:6 says: “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
Until the Last One Hears,
Kim Pate
