Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:1-2

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Sometimes in my fleshly nature I find myself wondering, “Is God really pleased with my life?” In evangelism it is hard to see the results you long to see in the moment. It seems the more we minister the less response we see in a move toward personal responsibility to God and His kingdom service.

As I study the Word of God, I realize the disciples had the same ministerial battles. Paul teaches through the New Testament of the mind battles and the warfare he experienced as he went from place to place establishing churches and spreading the Gospel. However, Paul exhorts all of us in Ephesians 4:1-2 to “…Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called. With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.”

God is faithful to put a stop to all doubt and uncertainty when His called and chosen are in a warfare or mind battle. These verses were a confirmation to me that regardless of the results I do or do not witness in my service, I must continue to walk equipped in His Word and ministering in His Spirit, not by my flesh or by sight. It must also be noted that Paul wrote the book of Ephesians while sitting in prison. Therefore, He did not waste his time wondering if he was being pleasing to God. Ouch and oh my!

When I asked the Lord to reaffirm His will in my life and whether my life is pleasing to Him, He sent me straight to these verses. God loves us so much that He leaves nothing unanswered in our hearts and minds. I learned in my moment of doubt and uncertainty that I am to serve regardless of my personal overview.

Serving the Lord and spreading the Gospel is not and will never be based on my personal feelings and insecurities. I am reminded from the Word of God that I must walk worthy of my service by making sure God is magnified in all I do, regardless of whether I see a response or not. I am also told that we must serve in our vocation of evangelism as a family who demonstrates the love of God with humility, passion, endurance and unconditional love.

I want to praise my Heavenly Father for responding to my wonderings. I want to thank my family for serving in a time when it seems that the body of believers are complacent and the world is nearing its end. I know that God is pleased with our service and we will continue until He returns.

Perhaps you are having the same warfare? If that is the case then I challenge you, from my heart to yours, to open the Word of God, fall on your knees in prayer and ask the Lord to confirm and direct your steps to the path that is pleasing to Him. He will be faithful to answer and direct you. You too must be willing to walk worthy of your vocation.

I Just Love Jesus,
