From The Heart
The Sore That Scarred
by Dr. Brenda Robinson
Scripture Reading: Psalm 147:3
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
We all have battle wounds from living life. They are wounds from our past, wounds from those who have hurt us. We have physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds that leave sores upon our minds and hearts. However, our Scripture tells us that God binds up our wounds.
Our pain goes so deep from life' battles that we forget the God who heals. We live with sores of grief, fear, and even rebellion. We tend to make these pains and sores our gods. We tend to dwell and wallow in them rather than deal with and nurture them.
A sore cannot become a scar without proper care and constant nurturing. God is the Healer for your sores and pains of life. Again, our Scripture verse tells us that "He healeth the broken in heart."
When we cry out to God and confess all of our fears, pains, and open wounds, He will be faithful to scar (close up) that sore that causes you to be bitter and angry. He will heal the wounds of life as He knows you are willing and ready to give Him all the honor and glory of your tragic and painful encounters.
Perhaps you have sores that are still open and infected. Perhaps they are affecting your reputation and your service for Christ, the Healer and Deliverer of your life, the very one who was wounded for your transgressions.
Jesus bears the marks of the sores given Him at Calvary. His sores are healed and closed up. Jesus is the great example of sores that scarred. He took our place at Calvary so that we would have Him as our Great Physician. He died so that our sores would be scars of live, service, and devotion to Him. There are several things that we must do in order for God to "healeth the broken in heart, and bind up their wounds." We must:
- Be willing to be wounded.
- Persevere through the battle.
- Never quit or give up.
- Bear the pain and press on.
- Allow God to be our strength and healer.
From my heart to yours, I pray that you will allow God to bind up your wounds so that your sores will become scars that represent His righteousness and your faithfulness to Christ.
