Scripture Reading: Psalm 144:1-2

Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

From Adam in the garden to John on the Isle of Patmos, God was a shield to all of His chosen. For all that He created, He gave man explicit instructions on how to tend and keep, how to shield and protect.

From the first man Adam to John the beloved, God created, ordained, and assigned each individual their purpose and service for His Kingdom work. God knew that in every created life they would be powerless and failures without Him.

Our Scripture text says, "Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me."

As we allow God to be our shield, we will find ourselves living blessed rather than burdened. In our burdens, we will continue to seek and serve Him because we know that He is with us and protecting us. If we abide under the umbrella of God's protection, we become a force for Christ's sake that cannot be reckoned with.

My shield is God Himself, my faith lies in the power of His truths and the promises of His Word. Our Scripture even tells me that with God as my shield, He teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight. Oh what blessed assurance I live in as a child of God.

We all have the same protection, provision, and shield around us as Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Paul, and John, and all of the Bible people in between, God has called and chosen each one of us for His purpose and service. Therefore, for all of us who trust Him, believe Him, and love Him above all others, there is a shield of protection around us.

In the New Testament, Paul proves the shield of God about him when he declares in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9, "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair: Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;" Oh my precious friends, when our lives are at this degree of persecution and battle is when we will see God as our shield.

I can assure you that as long as we stand for God and His righteousness we will feel the same way Paul did. However, we, too can put on our shield as we say we are cast down but not destroyed. The shield God has around us protects us from destruction.

From my heart to yours, I pray that you will allow God to be your shield. Continue to love and serve Him with all your heart, soul, and mind. Regardless of the trials I have learned that God is with me. He is teaching my hands to war and my fingers to fight and I know He is my shield.

I Just Love Jesus,
