Scripture Reading: Philippians 3:13-14

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

If we are going to excel in excellence there is no turning back or quitting. If Cinderella had given in to her cruel stepmother and her ugly step-sisters, she could never have won the prince. Some think it was luck or coincidence that got her to the ball. Just as there was a special fairy controlling the outcome for Cinderella, you too have Someone far greater and more loving and powerful in control of your outcome.

Like Cinderella, we have to be willing to take risks, get injured, and be in the forefront of superior quality. If Cinderella had listened to her enemies, she would still be slave to her lifestyle. We must determine in our hearts and minds to allow God control so that His power can place us on a chariot of excellence. How do we do that?

We must train for the race set before us. Our Scripture text tells us, Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul wasn’t the only one who excelled in hard times. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned. Yet, due to his love for God and staying the course, his excellence put him 2nd in command.

We must compete with God as our trainer and encourager and we must run to win. Don’t look back. Don’t measure success by the success of others. Stay focused on the chariot at the finish line that will carry you to levels of excellency that only God can take you to. Like Joseph, you too can say, But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…” (Genesis 50:20)

You will then live in peace, prosperity, and purpose. Your life will be filled with love, hope, and joy. You will become not only a person of excellence, but a person that others want to be like. They will applaud your life and long to be a part of it.

Excellency is awaiting your arrival.  Going the extra mile bestows upon you peace, purpose, and prosperity; victory, virtue, and vitality. From my heart to yours, let us all press toward the mark that Christ Jesus is standing at with open arms. He cannot wait to say “…Well done, thou good and faithful servant:”

I Just Love Jesus,
