Your Savor

Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:13

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted: it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men.”

Jesus is calling out to the genuinely born-again Christians as being the salt of the earth. Have you ever eaten any green beans straight from the can without adding salt to them? They are horrible without some flavor. The same goes for Christians.  If we do not have some “flavor” to us, we are no good to those around us.

We are called the “salt of the earth” for a purpose. We are to help meet the needs of others, to add flavor to their lives and to introduce them to the greatest preservative ever known… Jesus Christ.  Have you ever taken salt and poured it on a block of ice?  It melts the ice. We as salt can melt away the coldness in the hearts of others. We can heal their wounds by applying the salt (Jesus).

We have a mission as Christians to be the salt in other’s lives.  If we lose our savour and walk around hum-drum, then why would others want what we have? We must show them our joy and help savour their lives with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are good for nothing if we lose our savour. Have you lost your savour and want it back? Or, do you still have the effects of the salt of the earth?
