Where Death Finds You, Eternity Will Keep You
by Brooke Cason
Scripture Reading: John 3:7
"…Ye must be born again."
Another church sign devotional!
I'm hoping that we all know that from the moment we take our first breath, we are one breath closer to death. Death will come our way in some shape, form, or fashion. We may not die from some terminal disease or some fatal accident, but we're going to die.
Along with death on this earth, comes the most important decision that we could ever make, Where will you spend eternity? Every second of every day we are dying. We don't know the moment God will call us home so it's important to know where you're going. You will spend eternity in one of two places...Heaven or Hell. The choice is yours. The Bible teaches salvation throughout its entirety. John 3:7 says, "…Ye must be born again." John 6:47 says, "…He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." These two verses tell us that if we are born again (born in Christ; believe in Him) that we will have everlasting life. He's promised us an eternity with Him in beauty that our minds can't comprehend. Heaven has been prepared with a rare beauty!
Hell is as real as Heaven. Hell was prepared for satan and his angels. It wasn't intended for any of us, but there are so many people choosing Hell as their eternal home. They are refusing the love of Christ and all of His promises. In Hell, there will be a fire that will burn for an eternity. That doesn't sound appealing to me at all. I'd rather spend eternity in beauty and splendor.
Are you prepared for eternity because eternity is prepared for you? Death will find you and eternity will keep you. There is not changing your mind once death comes your way. There is no changing your mind about where you'll spend eternity once you draw your last breath. Since we aren't promised our next breath right now would be a great time to make sure you have chosen a life with Christ.
You might say, "I'm not worth of His love!" or "I've been too bad." Or maybe you're saying "How could He have given His life for me?" John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." None of us are worthy or good enough, but God gave His Son to die for WHOSOEVER! That's anybody! You, me, a murderer, and adulterer, a liar, absolutely ANYBODY! Nobody has to be left out. Search your heart and know without a doubt where you will spend eternity. I pray that you choose Heaven; a home of beauty and splendor. Prepared by a loving Heavenly Father.
Just remember: THERE IS LIFE BEYOND THE GRAVE AND ETERNITY WILL KEEP YOU! THERE IS NO SECOND CHANCE.
