Restore My Joy

Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:12

“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”

Have you found yourself wrapped up in your circumstances (financial distress, marital issues, troubled child)? Has satan stolen your joy? Has he tried to destroy your relationship with Christ? Has your focus been taken away from your salvation and all the benefits that come from being a child of God?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are probably thinking “what should I be joyous over?”  When I get down and feel abandoned, I have to remember what salvation really means.  Having Christ as my Savior, I can stand on all His promises found in His Word.  He will never leave us nor forsake us.  He promised us eternal life with a mansion on streets of gold.  He promised to supply our needs.  These few do not even touch half of His promises.

When I get in the pity party mode, I pray, “Lord, please restore the joy of my salvation.  Help me to see all the good things You have done for me and all the blessings You have bestowed upon me.  Thank You for saving me and making me Yours.  You are my joy, and I praise You for bringing me out of my pity party.”

God is so mighty that He can and will restore the joy of those who are truly looking for a way out of their depressed mode. Those of you who love misery will have to want to overcome it to begin a joyous journey.
