Recognizing the Devil
by Dr. Brenda Robinson
Scripture Reading: I Peter 5:8
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
How can we recognize the devil? It is obvious that he is not how we perceive him in our minds. When we think of the devil, we picture him with a red tail, forked horns and a pitch fork. However, if we go back to the garden where satan met Eve, we will find that the old serpent crept in very subtle and I am sure he was the most beautiful of the creatures in the garden. He lied and deceived her by convincing her that she could be as gods. Thus, we must realize that the enemy will approach and attack us in the most precious areas of our life. He will convince us that God has put tragedy in our life. He will tell us that we are being punished by the Lord. He will remind us of all the good things we have done while he deceives us into thinking that God does not care about the good we have done. He will point out all the blemishes of what we thought should have been flawless. On the flip side of this theory, satan will entice us against God by appealing to the thoughts and feelings of the flesh. Satan always appeals to the lust of our flesh, the pride of life and the lust of our eyes. There are several ways to recognize the enemy in your life:
- If your flesh feels good.
- If the blame is shifted to God.
- If lies are involved.
- If pride is an issue.
- If you feel abandoned by the Lord.
Based on these five symptoms, where do you recognize the devil in your life?

I must say that I see the devil coming to me and my family everyday, trying to destroy our peace and happiness. I have a boss named Satan that always try to confuse me with simple instrutions only so that he can fuss and curse at me. Then later he comes around and try to apologize and say sexual things. What a loser. Please pray for me and my family.
