Key Verse: Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Key Thought: “Everything we do or go through as part of our Christian walk is making us holy.”

Key Points:

  • Sanctification is our progression in righteousness. It is instant and ongoing.
  • Progression requires us to surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit.

From the beginning of your salvation experience until this very day, God has been working in your life. He is preparing you for total surrender and dependence upon the Lord. You have been made holy by the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. Sanctification is a twofold principle. It is both instantaneous and progressive. It’s instantaneous because you are made holy at the moment you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior; it is progressive because you are being set apart and made into the image of Christ daily. Moment by moment, you are being molded into the righteousness of God.

Resting in the Holy Spirit and believing in the truth of God’s Word will move us into greater avenues of service and faith. It will make us confident Christians.

The work of the Holy Spirit in our lives is ongoing. Our progressive sanctification is a result of our daily walk with God.
