The Peace, Presence and Promises of God
by Labron Cason
Scripture Reading: Acts 27:23-25
"For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me."
In our Scripture text, Paul said "there stood by me this night, an angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve." What did this messenger at night say? He said, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me."
Paul just finished telling the others about the peace and presence of God. He then expounded to them about the very promises of God, and that they were all true.
God is with us. His peace is with us. His promises are real. He said, "Paul you are going to make it to the other side." Paul told everyone on board the ship that no one was going to die in the storm. Everyone was going to make it. Romans 8:31 says, "What shall we then say to these things: If God be for us, who can be against us?"
Being in the center of the perfect will of God will not exempt us from troubles and trials and storms in our life. Yes, God is with us. Yes, we do have a word from God. Yes, God's peace is real. Yes, God's promises are true. We are going to make it through the pilgrimage of life. We are going to Heaven. We are going to back in the peace, presence and promises of God, for all eternity.
