No Trespassing
by Labron Cason
Scripture Reading: I Peter 2:9
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
When you think of the word “peculiar,” you probably think of “different, apart from everyone else, or a separate people.” The word peculiar comes from the Latin word peculium which means “private possession.” If we are born again, we are God’s peculium. That makes us God’s purchased, private possession. We no longer belong to ourselves. We have been bought with a price and we belong to God. We are His private property.
We should walk around with a sign around our neck that reads “NO TRESPASSING – VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED.” The things the world offers us are pleasing to our flesh, but those pleasures are temporal. We must have the frame of mind that we will no longer accept what the world offers us because we are no longer of this world. What God offers us is for eternity!
Are you ready to put on your “NO TRESPASSING” sign? If you are saved, you are wearing one whether you want to or not.
