Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:33

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

As you all know, I love reading church signs. I was on my way to the dentist office last week and passed this church that always has good "signs." Their sign said, "New Year's Resolution: Seek God first." I kept repeating this quote in my head all the way to work. I thought of so many "resolutions" that I've made in the past in which none of them have I kept. I've "resolved" to lose weight, exercise daily, spend more time with my family, pray more, study the Word more, etc. It seems I fail each time so I quit making resolutions, but his resolution should be one we all should strive for.

I catch myself, when a battle or trial comes my way, to run to my daddy for advice because he's such a wise and Godly man. There's nothing wrong with seeking Godly counsel, but we should always seek God's counsel first through prayer and His Word. He's the One with the ultimate guidance and advice that we can stand on. His Word is His voice, and it'll NEVER mislead us. He loves His children.

I have never questioned my daddy's love for me, but he's still flesh and flesh can be misleading sometimes not meaning to be. God will always provide us with the correct information and guidance that we need. So my New Year's ADVICE is to seek HIM first. Ask HIM for guidance in all things. Live inside HIS WILL for your life.

Great advice Brooke, I've really learned alot about seeking God first this year. I had a friend that I ran to when I had a problem and shared everything with like most women do, but I realized after that friendship of many years quickly fell apart that God is a jealous God and he desired more than anything for that intimate relationship with me and although it was heartbreaking I was reminded of Romans 8:28..... So this year I truly have resolved to seek God first... See you guys soon! Love yal!
