It is Well with My Soul Continued
by Brooke Cason
Scripture Reading: II Kings 4:26
“Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her,Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well.”
Last week in our study on the Shunammite woman, we came to realize that God was showing this woman His wonder-working power. She was determined to hold fast to the statement, “It is well.” As we continue this study today, notice the rest of the story.
She let Elisha know that she did not ask him for a son and she had told him before not to deceive her. She wanted him to stick to his promise and she told him she would not leave him. I believe that she meant “I will not leave you until I see a miracle.” Is that not how we should be with God? Sometimes we only depend on Him when we need a miracle. He wants us to always be dependent on Him and to always walk with Him.
She knew Elisha would stick to his word. He would not provide her with a gift then strip her from it. She knew that everything would be well if she could just reach the man of God. The Shunammite woman held Elisha to his promise. He breathed life back into her son. All the time she was saying, “it is well.”
What circumstance are you in at this time? It could be grief, sickness, a rebellious child, a sin sick spouse, finances, etc. Can you say, “It is well?” God is in control of all things, but we must allow Him to have complete control so that He can work. He has promised us so many things, and like the Shunammite woman, we can hold Him to His Word. We must be willing to accept God’s will and say, “It is well,” through it all. Just sit back and say from the heart, “It is well”.
