Scripture Reading: Luke 10:33

"But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. And went to him, bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

Our Scripture text gives us another great example of God’s grace and mercy upon those who make wrong choices and decisions in their lives. This man had gotten on the wrong road in search for something bigger and better. In his decision, he was passed by as he lay wounded by those who had at one time been in Jerusalem with him. The previous Scriptures teach that the Priest and the Levite saw him in his condition but walked on by.

Oh, those who should have been the ones he could depend on left him there to die. A certain Samaritan, who is never mentioned by name or position, was the one who cared for this wounded victim. Our Scripture text says, “He had compassion on him.” This Samaritan went above and beyond what any of us would do today. We would judge the situation with an attitude of “He knew better than to take that road.”

My friend, we are called to be good and certain Samaritans. We are all appointed to help certain people in need. You see, it was a divine appointment for this certain Samaritan to cross paths with this wounded man. God wanted this man to see His grace, mercy and compassion in spite of his wrong decisions. God used a complete stranger to show him His love and care for him. The Scripture finishes the story when it says, He “bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

Our example lies in the actions of the certain Samaritan. Who is before you wounded and half dead? Have you walked on by or are you willing to show compassion?

Thank you Brother Dan for such sweet words... I am so thankful for the many good samaritans God has put in my path. I pray through all of my bad decisions, that God has humbled me so I can be that good samaritan in return for His glory..
