Forgiveness

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:14-15
"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
Forgiveness is sometimes a hard thing to possess. How many of you have been hurt so many times and are now controlled by bitterness? Maybe you think in your mind you have forgiven but truly in your heart you know that you still haven't forgiven or gotten past your hurt or betrayal. I was that person at one time. For the most part, I'm a very forgiving person. Sometimes I believe I forgive too easily, but then I stop to remember my Heavenly Father is the same way…VERY forgiving! But there has been a situation where I allowed myself to get very close to someone and then they judged be and hurt me very badly. I went a whole year carrying around anger and bitterness. All the while it was killing me spiritually, but this person wasn't affected by it for hey didn't even know they'd hurt me. I had to learn that I was the one in sin and I had to first plead with God to forgive me then I had to confess everything to this person. The Bible teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15, that to be forgiven we have to forgive. It also teaches us in Matthew 18:15-16 to confront the situation and try to make things right.
So many of us wonder why we feel so dead and so far from God. Search your heart today. Are you harboring unforgiveness? Do you think you've forgiven but you truly haven't dealt with the situation? If you want to grow your Spiritual relationship with God you have to live in forgiveness. Trust me! I was dying. The only person my unforgiveness affected was ME!! Don't allow your unforgiveness to control you. Confront it! After all, you may be going on here say words and believing satan's lies. Don't allow him the upper hand. Bow at Jesus' feet and allow Him control and pray that He will give you complete forgiveness and help you to FORGET it all as well! It will restore your relationship with your Heavenly Father!
