Scripture Reading: John 6:35

"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."

This Scripture came to my mind and pierced my heart as I drove to the dentist office the other day and passed my favorite "church sign" church. Their sign said "The Bread of Life NEVER gets stale." Digest that! I had so many thoughts run through my head. I thought about my sandwich I had fixed me for lunch with two week old bread. Of course, I was SO looking forward to eating it, HA, HA! I knew the bread wouldn't be fresh when I bit into it, but that's all we had so that's what I ate! Have you ever been there? You just took it or ate it because that's all that was offered or that's all you had. Do you think that's the way Jesus looks at us sometimes? He just takes us because that's the best there was to offer! He knows our potential, but sometimes we don't trust His judgment. He wouldn't have chosen us had He not have thought that He could use us.

The next thought I had was how the Word of God is fresh every time we open it. He speaks to me each time I get into His Word and it's NEVER stale. It might cut through me with conviction or correction, but even though it may not taste good at the moment, it's not stale.

Another thought I had was straight from our Scripture text. "I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." These are words spoken by Jesus Himself. He has made us a promise. We may at times feel like we are Spiritually hungry or thirsty, and we may be but all we have to do is spend some time with "the bread of life" to be fed. We can't get so hungry and thirsty that we will famish away as long as we are one of His children. He's also made a promise to never leave nor forsake us. When you're feeling your insides getting hungry Spiritually, try taking a bite out of THE BREAD OF LIFE! Some ways to do that is:

  • Through prayer
  • Through His Word
  • Through sharing the Gospel
  • Through giving Him praise
  • Etc

The Bread of Life NEVER gets stale. He's like a fresh loaf each moment you spend with Him. Just try Him. Eat from His table each day. I promise He won't get old to you. He'll give you something new every day.
