Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:12

“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

I love the parable of the pearl of great price found in Matthew 13:45-46 which says, “The kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.”  Jesus became that pearl of great price. Did you know that the pearl is the only gem or jewel that is formed through pain and suffering? To get to the pearl, the oyster has to die. You say, “What does this have to do with the ministry of the saints?” Everything my friend! Jesus went through pain, suffering and death for you to be rich in His love, grace and mercy.

In the time that we live in today, we must all be willing to go through some pain and suffering and possibly even death to enjoy the treasures of our inheritance. We have become the treasure of Jesus Christ. We are precious in His sight and were purchased with His life. We need to take hold of our riches and demonstrate them to a lost and hurting people. We must lock them within our hearts and live them through our lives. Someone needs to see what you possess within you as a member of the family of God. If you are saved, you have riches to share. God has gifted you with them and is calling you to wear them well. Search your heart until you know what you need, not only for your own life, but to mentor others around you. Ephesians 4:12 gives us our instructions as the body of Christ. It says, “For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
