Scripture Reading: II Timothy 2:15

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

My friends, it is another day for a spiritual indicator evaluation. Our next spiritual indicator is when we find ourselves spending more time studying God’s Word.

Today’s Scripture text exhorts us to study the Word of God. The Bible does not teach us to read. It says to “study to show thyself approved.” We cannot pick up the Bible and read it like a newspaper. We will forget what we read within a day. Reading alone will not help us to decrease. It requires studying for God to increase.

To approve ourselves as Christians who are sincere and effective, we will have to spend more time studying the Word of God. Everything God says in His Word will work. We cannot live on hear-say words. We cannot function as Christians without knowing the Word of God for ourselves.

Who we are as Christians and our victory against the devil will be determined by how much we know about the Lord. Let’s equip ourselves for life by spending more time studying God’s Word.
