Shut The Front Door
by Brooke Cason
New Desire had an extremely exciting weekend. We headed out Saturday around lunch time to Calhoun to get set up for the "Who's Packing Your Chute" Youth Event headed up by Janice Hunt. This event was a huge success in the Lord. It was kicked off with a paratrooper, Christian Stevens, parachuting from 5000 feet in the air. Of course, the tears began to flow. He attached an American flag to him and flew it as he dropped in the air. This moved me! He was a proud American. The high school band from Adairsville was there playing spirit songs to get everyone excited. It took me back to my high school days and made me want to cheer again. I loved it. Of course I can't move like I did then. I'm way older and way stiffer :-) There was a couple of drama teams and contemporary bands there to help lead the worship part of the night. Brenda was the main speaker and she won the hearts of the young people. She used their common day language, such as, "cool, true that, Booyah, shut the front door, etc." They loved her. Her teaching was phenominal. As far as we know, there were 8 salvations that night.....GO GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God was truly in that place and was in everything that was done and said.
We left from there and traveled on to Chattanooga, TN to sing for the morning and evening services at Hickory Valley Baptist Church. Both services was filled with the Holy Spirit. It felt good in that place even during soundcheck....that rarely happens. Soundchecks are always stressful, but this day it was Spiritual! I have made me a new friend too. The choir director, Danny, and I have way too much in common. We both can cry at the drop of a hat. He started crying during the choir's song. I love that. I didn't feel so alone Sunday. Thank you Danny for crying with me, or me with you.....I think you started first :-) We love this place of worship. Bro. Chris preaches truth and they don't mind worship! Thank you all for letting us come be a part of your Harvest Sunday. This church had over 1100 contacts made for this particular Sunday. That's awesome! You can tell they want to grow and draw people to the Lord. Keep up the great work of Christ.
We have a busy schedule over the next few weeks. It all starts this Thursday with a fundraiser in Cedartown, GA for the Sheriff's Youth Homes, then to Cullman for a Marriage Night. The rest of the weekend will be spent in Steele, AL, then we head to Knoxville for a three day revival then to Gatlinburg Gathering. We are excited, Please pray for our safety and our effectiveness.
In Christ,
Brooke
