Scripture Reading:  JOB 1:21B

"...the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."

Destruction comes to us in many forms.  It comes in the physical, financial, mental, emotional and especially the spiritual. I can still see Job standing in the midst of his destruction. Before it’s all over, it affects him in all aforementioned areas.  I can see Job as he stands there.  His children are dead, and his crops are burned.  His house is destroyed, and he looks down at himself and sores begin to break out all over his body.  I am sure he was thinking, if I could just get some relief in at least one of these areas, I might be able to come out of this.

His friends were voicing their opinion and wondering what he was going to do now. His own wife was telling him to curse God and die.  I believe even the devil might have been saying to his demons, “I wonder what Job is going to do now?” Job being the man he was, decided to put them all in a state of reality.

Job shaved his head, rent his mantle, fell on the ground and had a spell in God. The Bible says he worshipped. The word worship comes from the root word that means worthship. You can hear singing and Bible preaching and not worship God. However, when your soul has been humbled, and you have been brought into the presence of Jehovah, you have entered worship. You are telling him how much you love Him and how much he is worth. That is real worthship.

Job did not feel, see or understand anything. There is one thing he knew, “…the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh, blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21). This man of God refused to die in his destruction and his time of sifting. Are you that intimate with God? Would you say you are worshipping or whining in your trials?

Wow and ouch! Ok... so no, I am not a man, but what a post! What thought! God really pricked my heart about "real worship." How often do we find ourselves whining and on a pity-party in our time of trials instead of worshipping the One who died for us? For me, Too often! Labron, thank you so much for posting this~ it surely has helped me!!

You are so right. God always has our best interest in what He gives and what He takes away. We are all interested in the good things He gives. Most of the time we miss the point of His taking away. When your lives are full of distractions, He needs to remove somethings in order to give room for better things.
