Alabama and Tennessee Update
by Brooke Cason
New Desire had a very busy weekend, but it was so rewarding. The bus could not be driven due to some mechanical problems. Our mechanic had to work on the bus over the weekend to get it serviced and the injector fixed, so we had to pull out in the suburban pulling the trailer without Dan. Dan had to stay behind with the bus to keep the generator running from time to time. Labron drove us all weekend while Brenda, Caleb and I “backseat” drove...telling him where to go and what to do (as if he needed the help from any of us, ha, ha). We pulled out early Saturday morning and headed to Jasper, AL to the mall to do a singing and book signing. It was amazing to watch the people filter in while we were singing and sit down to listen or just stand there to hear the Word of God sung through the songs. God really uses these venues to speak to those that otherwise wouldn’t hear His Word. We always love doing these types of singings to see what all God is going to do while we are there. The testimonies of those who came by to share with us were wonderful. God just continues to amaze me and I know He will always amaze me because He’s so GOD!
We left the mall and traveled to Cordova, AL just down the road a piece to Dovertown Free WIll Baptist Church to sing for them. We would like to thank them for allowing us to come through and sing for their church. We had an awesome time in the Lord with you all.
The night was far from being complete for us when we left there. We had to eat dinner then travel into Hodges, AL where would be singing on Sunday morning. Since we didn’t have the bus, Caleb crashed in the third seat, Brenda in the back seat and Labron and I stayed up to drive on in. We stayed with some friends right down the road from the church that so graciously opened their home to us and allowed us to stay the night. That always helps to not have to pay for a hotel room (of course, there’s not a hotel too close to the boonies in Hodges). We sang a few songs for New Mt. Carmel Baptist on Sunday morning then Bro. Tony preached to us an awesome message.
Since we didn’t have the bus, another friend of ours left to go get us something to eat while we packed up. That saved us a lot of time, not having to stop for lunch. Thanks Ann and Anthony for feeding us.
We left Hodges, AL and traveled to Cypress Inn, TN. All the way there Brenda kept asking us “ARE WE THERE YET? ARE WE CLOSE? DO WE KNOW WHERE WE ARE GOING?” I’m not going to lie to you. I wondered if we were ever going to get there too once we turned onto this gravel road and about 5 miles down this road the GPS says “YOU HAVE REACHED YOUR DESTINATION ON THE RIGHT.” On the right was a cattle gate. I had a feeling that this could not be our destination, but I told Labron “Go ahead and pull in. It won’t be the first time we have sung in a cow pasture.” We all laughed due to our lack of sleep and rest, but Labron kept driving. We finally saw another church sign, then shortly after that arrived at our REAL destination. Sometimes those GPS’ will try to steer you in the wrong direction. They are kind of like satan...he tries to take us down the wrong path sometimes. We wondered with this church being so FAR OUT in the woods who would show up or even know about this church, but the church was full. It was wonderful. We had a great service and fell in love with these people. They were so wonderful to jump in and help us set up, tear down, & load up. We greatly appreciate all the help!
We pulled out around 10:00 PM our time and headed home. A four hour trip back home, but we were all so tired that we just couldn’t make it. Caleb was out QUICK, then Brenda said that we needed to stop and sleep. We checked in to a hotel and rested for the night. It felt SO good just to lay down knowing that we didn’t have to be in a rush this morning. We are now back on the road traveling home. We have fought flies for 3 days in this Suburban. Brenda has literally beat them with newspaper and they won’t die. Labron has been driving and fighting them off...not safe! We have realized through this trip that we are completely spoiled. The bus is a luxury for us that we take for granted sometimes. It’s times like this that we realize how appreciative that we need to be for the provision that God has blessed us with by having a bus. We are so used to going to bed when we want to, taking a shower when we want to, having all of our clothes right there, and all of the other conveniences that we have by having the bus. PLEASE GOD FIX OUR BUS! It’s always something when you have one of these machines! They are a lot of up-keep but so worth it. Just call us BRATS! We know that’s what we are, ha, ha!
In Christ,
Brooke

"BRATS!" HaHa That so cracked me up, as did other parts of this blog. Some parts I can just see in my mind and it almost made me snort! LoL I am so glad y'all didn't have to sleep inside the suburban in the wild wilderness! However, I am happy it was a rewarding weekend , too. Love you all bunches!
I think this is my favorite blog post yet, haha...I can only imagine :) Praying for the bus!
Brooke, you are making everyone "snort" like you on this one!!!! I am getting too much entertainment out of yalls problems! ; ) Glad you made it through the weekend!!!!
By the way folks, after the weekend of pulling the trailer we also desire your prayers for the Suburban. It has 170,000 miles on it and there were a few times we wondered if we were going to make it from one church to the other or even make it home. It is not use to pulling a heavy loaded down trailer so my little suburban struggled with us throughout the weekend and it made it just like we did. Thank you God for weekends where we know only You could have gotten us through. Thanks to everyone and every church that helped us make it through. I Just believe I know a little more about the plaque of flies that came upon Egypt after this road trip. I was about ready to stop and lace the vehicle with fly spray. I should have used the Word of God on them instead of a newspaper : ). The Word of God would have poisened them little critters.
Yall car only has a little less miles than mine, it will keep on trucking along!! mine has 185,000 and knock on wood, she still struggling and putting along.. will be praying for yall, and for car and bus..sorry it took so much to fix it.. the suburban kept up very well and I kept betsy around 80...I tryed to get yall to Hodges as fast as I could cause I knew yall was worn out.. Yall have a great week and get some rest......Yea Brenda the Word of God wouldve of gotten the best of those flies!!!! heehhe
You guys are sooo effective, Satan just wont leave you alone. He had his pants in a wad when you left anyway without that bus. They just aint no stopping yall, dont he know? Brenda just wont stop giving him a wedgie. He is still back in the hills of Tennessee hunting his GPS so he can try hindering yall again. Yep, he is a defeated foe. ND just remember what David said in Psalms 3:3, "Thou Oh LORD, art a shield for me, the glory and lifter of my head". Thank you, ND for keeping your eyes on Jesus, no matter what comes your way. Thank you for not looking to the left or to the right, and for considering it all joy when you encounter various trials-the testing of your faith has produced endurance. Satan cant out maneuver you, for you have weapons he knows nothing of-he is defeated on every front. God is blessing New Desire so much in your services. We just wish we could all be there every time, but know that we are all praying for you and loving you because we see the love of Jesus in you. Keep on sharing The Word!
Brooke, my heart goes out to you all. I can only imagine the toll all of these trials are taking on you all physically and emotionally. You know, satin only goes after the ones that he fears. The ones working against him. So we all know that you are being effective or there would not be such a big battle week end and week out, oh and in the middle. I know that for every hour you all are in public there are 10 times that many hours put in to prep for every speech, every song, every book. Satin has tried death, sickness, money, and equipment to try and get you to stop or even loose your unfocused on each special talent and gift that God has bless each of you with. Satin has not won and I know he will not win. I have a special prayer time just for New Desire every night at 6:30 pm central time (I set my phone alarm). I send a call out to all of you that know New Desire to join me at this time every day and help pray New Desire through the continuous battles. Psalm 23:4 tells us that God will be with us through the valley of the shadow of death not that there would not be the shadow of death for us to walk through. I will keep praying I love you
Tammy, I covenant to pray with you daily for New Desire at 6:30 pm Central. I have already set my clock. We have all experienced the power of prayer, and we know that the bond we create in agreeing together with God is a three-fold cord that is not quickly broken. Thank you Tammy for issuing this call to faithfully "stay up " New Desire's hands in order for them to prevail in the battle. Time to pray. We just love Jesus, and New Desire
I will join yall also at 6:30 pm to pray for New Desire..I will set my clock to, I may still be working at those times but I can pray driving my car..Matt.18:19 says Again, I say unto you, That if two of you shal agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven...They are very special people and I know that they love the Lord and they help so many people including myself a number of times...Praying for each and every one of them and the finances for New Desire, I may not fully understand how much it takes to get here to there but I do know the bus is expensive..and I know they just had to put alot into that bus....May God truly bless them and keep them safe as they travel here to there spreading and sharing His precious Word......We love Jesus and New Desire to......
